    Welcome to our warm and nurturing Licensed Freestanding Birth Center in the heart of Otis, Oregon. We are owned and operated by Midwife Cynthia Luxford. Our birth center provides a tranquil and homelike environment on Cynthia's family farm, where expecting parents can welcome their new addition in a comfortable and supportive setting.

  • The center features a single, beautiful and spacious birthing suite, peaceful atmosphere, and a range of amenities to promote relaxation and well-being during labor and delivery. We are commited to upholding the highest standards of safety and expertise while honoring the unique journey of each family.
Expect personal, individulized care from Nova Vida Midwives. We have more than 35 years of experience helping families welcome their new babies. We honor your choices in childbirth. You will be provided with education about your pregnancy and your preborn baby. We will also provide you with birth and postpartum education. There is a strong emphasis on excellent nutrition and we include specific information regarding the Brewer Diet and special nutritional tips for Vegetarian and Vegan diet preferences. You can expect holistic care as we strive to work with you and your body to achieve ultimate health for you and your baby. Located in Otis Oregon
Prenatal Care
We will begin seeing you for your prenatal appointments as early in your pregnancy as you desire. We love to involve your entire family, especially your older children. We take great pleasure in providing you with care that meets your needs. We focus on evidence based care.
Labor and Birth
  • Giving birth in your own home is empowering and personal. You are in complete control of your experience. We provide individual education and advice to you to help guide you along the way. We will arrive at your place of birth as soon as you want us to be there. We stay until the birth of your baby, making sure that all is well with mother and child.
Postpartum Care
Immediate postpartum care begins as soon as the baby has been born and lasts between 4 and 6 hours past the birth. We believe that postpartum care is the most important part of our service to you. We will visit you every day for the first 5 days and then at 7 days, 10 days and weekly until the baby is 6 weeks old. In our experience, this schedule of care prevents postpartum depression and nursing difficulties.
Water birth
We specialize in the art of water birth. We have portable pools available for rent. We help you with all of the details on how to set up and prepare your place of birth to include this helpful tool.
